Death of Alexander McBean.
On Friday morning, March 25th, Alexander McBean passed to his long home, after a short illness with pneumonia, at his late residence , on the Longwood Road in the township of Ekfrid.
The deceased was born at Stony Creek, near Hamilton, about 71 years ago, and was the son of the late William McBean, who 69 years ago moved from Stony Creek to the place now occupied by George McBean.
There were five boys and three girls in the family, of which the three daughters and two sons, George on the homestead and a brother in Winnipeg, survive.
The late Mr. McBean was a successful farmer, being most industrious, painstaking and with excellent taste, as the neatness of his farm and home clearly indicated.
He was a man of sterling character, genial in a manner, kind and hospitable.
He was a consistant and most faithful member of the Presbyterian church, and for many years devotedly filled the office of an elder in the Glencoe Presbyterian church, where his presence will be greatly missed
He leaves to mourn his loss as an affectionate husband and father a wife and two daughters, Maggie and Jeanette. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, March 28th, from his late residence, and was very largely attended, bearing testimony to the esteem in which he was held. Service was conducted by Rev. George Weir. The pallbearers were members of the Session of Glencoe Presbyterian Church, Alexander Cameron, George Lethbridge, John Strachan, George Innes, Robert Eddie and Charles Scott. Internment was at the Oakland cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the whole community in their deep sorrow.3
