"Mr Wallace Lockwood has disposed of the south half lot 21, 1st range north of Longwoods Road, Ekfrid (Twp.), 100 acres, to Alex. and George McBean, for $6,250, and has bought 230 acres near Longwood from Timothy Howe, for $14,000. Mr. Lockwood intends removing to his new farm next month.¹

Strayed

Came into the premises of the undersigned, lot 23, second range south L.W.R., Ekfrid, on 9th November, a red two years old steer. Owner is requested to prove property, pay charges and take him away.

30 Oct. 1885, Elizabeth McBean & Jane McBean buys part of North 1/2 lot 23 R.L.S.L.R. ( Wm. McBean homestead) from George McBean. Later, Nov. 25, 1913, Jane's name listed as Jane Tallamy when selling for $ 1.00 to Margaret McBean. Then 25 Oct. 1916 they sell it to William G. Howson, & wife on Oct 25, 1916.¹

Sad Accident in Ekfrid

George McBean Killed by Falling from Load of Hay.

It was with feelings of regret and sorrow that news was received in Glencoe and vacinity of the sudden death of George McBean on Thursday morning , July 3rd, at his home in Ekfrid. Des\ceased, who was in his 60th year, was putting a load of hay in the barn, when the trip rope broke and he fell backwards off the load, breaking his neck.

The late Mr. McBean was born on the farm on which he died and will be remembered for his many sterling qualities. Of a kindly disposition he made many friends and was regarded as a good citizen and a neighbor and a kind husband and father. He was a consistent member of the Glencoe Presbyterian church and for a number of years very worthily filled the office of an elder.

He leaves to morn his loss his wife and one daughter, Cassie, to whom much sympathy is extended. One brother, Cyrus, of Winnipeg, and two sisters - Mrs. Tallamy and Miss Elizabeth, of Glencoe, also survive

The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon to Oakland Cemetery, and notwithstanding the stormy weather a large crowd gathered to pay their last respects to one who was universally esteemed.¹
