Dr. J. R. Penton Sr., Taken by Death at 65.

Dr. John Randolph Penton, Sr, 65, a well known Montgomery physician died in a

local hospital today at 8:05 am following an illness of four weeks. A resident

of Montgomery for 50 years, Dr. Penton resided at 807 E. Fairview Avenue. He

was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church here. Survivors include his widow

Mrs. Minnie McKay Penton, two sons, Dr. John Randolph Penton Jr, Montgomery,

and Dr. George Blue Penton, Montgomery, one brother, Dr. Sims F. Penton,

Wetumpka, two sisters, Mrs. Annie Arant, Mrs. Bessie Penton Granger, Equality,

two grandchildren, Mary Ann and Betty Jean Penton, and a number of neices and

nephews. The funeral will be conducted from Trinity Presbyterian Church

Tuesday at 3 pm with Dr. Henry Edward Russell officiating. Burial will be in

Greenwood Cemetery with Leak Memory Chapel in charge.
