George W. Penton, (Doc), 86, 1813 South Hull Street, a resident of Montgomery
for 53 years, died in a local hospital at 8:30 pm Friday after an extended
illness. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He was a native of
Equality and an uncle of Dr. S. F. Penton of Wetumpka.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Ould Penton, Montgomery, a daughter
Mrs. Clarence Cook Jr, Montgomery, a granddaughter, Lovelace Cook, Montgomery
and a grandson, Penton Cook, Montgomery.
Funeral services were from the Presbyterian Church at 4:30 pm Sunday. Dr.
Robert Strong officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, with Leak Memory
chapel officiating. Pall bearers were Sam Adams, Burns Bennett, Rex McKissick,
Frank McFadden, Dr. Frank Jackson and Judge Richard Emmett. Honorary
palalbearers were Men's Bible Class of Trinity Church and Montgomery Auburn
Club.
